As a new kid on the block salli is keen to deliver works that concentrate on simple themes with form and colour. There are no epic backstories. Words such as narrative, engagement, immersive and connectivity mean very little and say even less. The object is to get colour on the wall. If the work cannot turn a viewer's head on its own merits then no amount of explanatory notation will help it.
Artist Statement
Art is taken a bit too seriously by far too many. There must be a lot more noise and ‘up yours’ going on in the galleries. Political correctness has taken the high ground of late and to that end a couple of controversial pieces add an edge. Some would have galleries and the works there-in resembling library quiet cathedrals walled by superficial seriousness. So, to the simple joy of looking and liking – or not. It’s bling and it’s on the wall.
