Kadell, Wendy
In less than five years working as a Portrait Artist, Wendy’s work was selected for a number of prestigious competitions including the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize (Oil) in 1988, the Portia Geach Award also in 1988 and the Aberdare Art Prize, (Pastel) in 1989. Wendy’s entry in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize received a ‘Commended’.
Artist Statement
Wendy has always had a fascination with people’s faces and the body form. Her intent has been to capture her subject’s sensitivities.
Her portrait work was soon sought after by University and Secondary College Faculties, Corporate Entities and many private collectors.
Wendy was accepted as ‘Master Pastellist’ - Pastellist Society of Australia in 1988, and was also a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society, and the Half Dozen Group of Artists.
