Butler, Max
Max Butler began painting half-way through his thirty years as a primary school Principal. Since his retirement from Ascot State School in 1998, he has changed his style, resulting in even greater success. He has won first prize in the Royal Qld Art Society annual exhibition and recently won Grand Champion Painting of the Royal Toowoomba Show. Though largely self-taught, he is influenced mainly by the work of Brian Malt and John Rigby. He is a member of The Royal Qld Art Society, the Artists’ Guild of Australia and is a Gallery Member of the Qld Art Gallery and GOMA.
The paintings featured are from his current successful series titled “My Country”, now numbering over one hundred paintings.
