Artist Statement
Jadie Pedge and Lee Wise are an Artist Duo. They are two Artists that work together on the same painting. Their partnership is a 50-50 relationship in that they both contribute equally towards every aspect of the painting process from start to finish.
“We always discuss everything to arrive at a mutual decision. We trust each other and understand about compromise- I think that’s our secret.” (Jadie)
“We’re both striving for the same goal of success in our future together, so therefore we both encourage each other in everyway we can. Oh and of course, we also have a lot of fun along the way.” (Lee)
Jadie and Lee first met in the UK (where they were both born and bred) and began their courtship together over 10 years ago. But it wasn’t until they migrated to Australia in 2008 that they began to paint together and realise their potential as a joint unit.
They have both been interested in art since they were old enough to pick up a pencil.
Jadie has a background in Illustration, which she studied to degree level and has also worked as an Artist Assistant to a well known Artist on the Gold Coast.
Lee is a self-taught Artist, with a personal history in Photography and Graphic Design (with work being published in both the UK and Australia).
Both work predominantly in acrylics for the obvious reasons of versatility and the quick drying element.
Their work together is very contemporary and borders on the Realism style of painting.
Their current online exhibition depicts, ‘ Reflections of modern life’ and is a series of bold and striking landscapes (both cityscapes and seascapes), which are not only a ‘Reflection of modern life’ as a snapshot in time, but also light and colour are physically reflected within the scenes themselves.
