Description

The exhibition shows familiar subjects that cover several age groups and social interactions that many can identify with. Some pieces show Debbie’s sense of humour with many of the works bringing warmth to the heart and smiles to lips as we remember the fun we’ve had with friends and family indulging in the Australian beach lifestyle. Look out for the double meanings and clever cliché’s to enjoy and share.

Repetitive images of seagulls and sandpipers pop up throughout the exhibition. They point out compositional features and add to the design of the finished piece as well as adding a bit of fun.

Debbie also pays particular attention to our most important Australian icon, our Aussie Surf Lifesavers. The familiar red and yellow flags and uniform of our indispensable life guards are very special to Australians. Most people have a connection with or a great story associated with Surf Life Saving. Several members of Deb’s family have been helped by the Surf Life Savers and this made her feel it important to give something back. Ten percent of sales from the exhibition will be donated by Debbie and the Martin Galleries to the Surf Life Saving Association for their 100th anniversary celebrations.
