Works on paper, more than any other medium, seem to encourage the use of lines, dots, shades and curves. Each artist hast an individual language an intricate alphabet of symbols that is unique to that artist. The marks and symbols an artist uses tend to stay with them their whole career – they remain their own language their symbols of communication.
